Included in Your Starter Pack:
- 1,000 live mealworms (Tenebrio molitor) averaging ¾" in length
- 250 freshly hatched darkling beetles (less than one week old when shipped)
Mealworms and beetles are packed in separate bags and shipped together in a single box via USPS Priority Mail – Hold for Pickup.
To ensure you start strong, we add 10% extra insects in every order to account for any losses during transit.

🛠️ Care Instructions
As with all live insects, it’s essential to keep your mealworms and beetles in a healthy environment. Pair them with your Mealworm Growing Pods or another suitable container, and maintain stable room temperature conditions.
❄️ Cold Weather Shipping Notice
During colder months, we take special care to help your live insects arrive safely. Our delivery vehicles are heated, and we use various packing methods based on the forecast, which may include:
- Heat packs
- Insulated wrapping
However, your live insects may still appear dormant due to cold exposure. This is normal behavior for cold-blooded species like mealworms, crickets, and calci worms.
🔄 How to Safely Revive Dormant Insects:
- Unpack all boxes and spread out the tubs or bags for airflow
- Leave insects at room temperature (18–25°C / 64–77°F)
- Do not apply external heat, as warming them too fast can cause harm
- Gently shake bulk bags to distribute the insects evenly
- Allow several hours for them to fully recover — most will become active again if handled properly
🌡️ Why Temperature & Humidity Matter
Maintaining the right environment ensures successful insect farming.
- Ideal Temperature: 20–28°C (68–80°F)
- Ideal Humidity: 50–70%
If it’s too cold, your insects may grow slowly. Excess humidity can cause mold or dust mites in the bedding — usually oats — which can harm your colony.
